“Raise the Roof” Work Day 1 was cut short by inclement weather, but we made some good progress. The north and south walls have been framed and raised into place. The west wall was was just beginning to take shape when we packed things up. Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped out today, and thanks to Prairie Ridge church for the beefburgers.

The weather forecast looks good for the rest of the week, so the pace of progress should pick up.

Hopefully we'll have digital pictures up soon.

The site blessing ceremony was a great success! All four members of the Veletic family, friends of the Veletic's from Union Park Presbyterian (the church that sponsored the Veletics when the came to the United States), representatives of the Ankeny Circle of Faith Churches, and representatives from the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity came together to bless the family, the site, and the volunteers that will be building this new home.

A great big thank-you to everone that has volunteered to help with the “Raise the Roof” week. With your help I'm sure that this week is going to be an incredible success!

After a small mixup with a concrete pumper whose boom was too short, the footings for our 2005 house were poured today. Check out the pictures of the action.
